slx 751 and InfoPath Forms
Posted: 16 Feb 10 12:59 PM
Has anyone used Infopath forms to post data to slx?
I understand that this needs to go thru a Webservice which is actually inputting the data to slx. OR can i directly hit a database from inside a infopath form in our local sharepoint site?
I have a LAN 751 install with a remote office and with NO web installed and would like to expose a InfoPath form which can input a SLX Meeting Note. At this point i do not have any components developed;but would like to start on this soon.
Do you think developing a web service and then the info path form will be more work than writing a simple ASPNET form with slx data exposed to create the slx notes? Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks!

Nandu, one option that may work for you would be to use InfoPath to capture that data in a staging table SQL Server and then use something like TaskCentre to process that data in SalesLogix. You wouldn't need to develop a custom web service.
But what are you trying to achieve? Have you seen if the web form based workflow will do what you want without InfoPath?

thanks for answering paul.
My requirment is simple for now.
I want to have a form in MOSS which can input a note to slx. That form will be there in the Orgs site and their mailboxes so that they can use it without opening SLX. Now one point to note is that my Note design is little more complicated with Multi products, Accounts , contacts and slx users on a Note.
The Infopath form should get the basic Account and Contact lookups for the IDs and then have all the above features for Multi inserts. When submitted should get inserted to the slx tables directly with the TEFs for the Remote office created as well. When i try to connect a InfoPath 2007 form, it wont connect thru the slx provider. Do you need to have an extenal app license installed in slx for this? I do not want to call slx on this as they do not sometimes even answer my slx ONLY questions.
