fiogf49gjkf0d Excellent! I can't wait for this new version. I just received the 'Introducing Sage CRM SalesLogix v7' mailer yesterday.
I was impressed with two things, which, either I glazed over or was never mentioned here..
* A Mobile version * Dashboards
I know reps here would kill for the ability to look up contacts on their PDAs without lots of hassle.
Dashboards: One big thing here that might prevent us from using dashboards 'out-of-box' is the fact that currently, all opportunities are 'price' based. There is no place to say that an opportunity is costing us $x and the customer is paying $x. Not having costs in opportunities perplexes me to no end. How can you forecast gross profit (GP)? I could have 3 million $ deals out there... but is it worth it if I'm only going to make $1000 (.001%) ?
Anyway, we do have a customization that added the cost of a product. We then created our own reports based on that data.
I guess the question is this... has SalesLogix added a cost factor to products to figure GP ? Without costs... the dashboard is a wasted feature for us until it can be customized.
Thanks, John G. |

Yes the dashboards are quite nice. The great thing is that they are all 100% customizable as well. So you can customize them or add your own to it to display whatever data makes sense to you.

fiogf49gjkf0d All,
So how is v7 in terms of performance and stability? Is anyone planning to roll it out to any production systems when it becomes available?

fiogf49gjkf0d Is anyone planning to roll it out to any production systems when it becomes available? We are planning on rolling it out ASAP. We are on 6.2.1 and having issues with Office 2003 integration. 6.2 SP3 is suppose to fix those issues but being so close to v7 we decided to wait.

fiogf49gjkf0d I just checked, no code for opportunity products in v7. Too bad, I find that is a custom I seem to make quite often. |

We started an upgrade for a client from v4.0.x to v7.0 over a month a ago.. Expect to go live very soon (week or so). This also has a couple of third party add-ons (QuoteWerks and Z-Firm's Shiprush). We did all the testing of both 3rd party products - one needed changes by the vendor, the other "works" but is not offically supported - we're working on that cleared up
Also working with another client that had started to deploy on 6.2.4 but we've "jumped" them to v7.0 for their rollout and it's looking good. The Architect changes and of course the MAJOR changes in the Import Wizard are really going to be a big help to them (Oh yes.. working on an article on the IW - will pass to Ryan for posting as soon as it's ready).
We converted our own internal production SalesLogix system to RC1 when it was available (now fully up to the "GOLD Standard"). Of course all of the customization in that system is our own. So we've been on v7 in production for some time.

Hello Ryan,
Could you please let us know how to get dbids for saleslogix version 7.0. For the previous version we called this procedure called "slx_dbids". Please let us know
Thanks |

Hi Pathmini,
I'm not sure I understand the question. The SLX_DBIDS procedure is still SLX_DBIDS in every version since v6 and higher (including v7.x)

Hello Ryan,
Thank you very much for quick reply. I tried to execute the store procedure "EXEC slx_dbids" from sql server management studio and I am getting store procedure can not be found. |

The procedure does NOT exist in SQL (or the database) and never has. This is a procedure that is implemented in the SLX OLEDB Provider and is only accessible via connections using the SLX OLEDB provider.
