For anyone planning on attending Sage Summit 2006 this in November (This is the Sage Software customer conference. See http://www.sagesummit.com/), I will be a speaker this year. The accepted topic I submitted is:

Title: Leveraging .NET in SalesLogix

Description: This technical session will take an in-depth look at how you can leverage .NET in customizing SalesLogix to bring your SalesLogix implementation past the barriers of what "out of the box" SalesLogix can provide. We will look at sample solutions built on .NET and how they can help you get more out of your system. This session will also look at the technical logistics and development tools available to pave the way to using .NET in your SalesLogix system.

Is there anyone planning on attending that has any input or suggestions of what kinds of things they might like to see in the presentation?

Ryan,

I would like to attend. I forwarded the summit info to our marketing manager and havent' heard anything since. I'll have to check in with him.

Your topic is very intereting and of interest to me. Right at this moment I don't have any input or suggestions. I guess getting started with using .NET would be my first suggestion. Only because I haven't done it yet.

The Boss nixed last year but maybe since I am close (Birmingham, Alabama) this year maybe he will allow me to attend this year. He is still deciding if you know what that means.

I like when examples are used that I can relate to such as showing how something common is done now and then how the same task can be completed better utilizing .NET. Showing me something - out of context - and telling me it is better just puts me to sleep!

Hope to have a chance to meet you and others from here!

It has been approved internally for me, however I have not received anything further from the ptb. I agree with both John and David. Not only getting started using it for this new environment, but also an example on how this is going to be either better or make our job easier. I would be curious how with the versioning controls and all of 6.2.4 will work together with an outside tool to manage the project parts via SLX... Also, being that we are now talking .Net, are we no longer limited to language? That would be nice to see in action...

Looking forward to the show and to meeting anyone who is there...

The .NET stuff in v7 is NOT replacing VBScript of AXForms (in Scorpion) . Ryan know this all too well and he will give you all the straight "skinny".

I have a session at the summit too. Mine is more of a best practices session entitled "Make Your Database Work for You" My SLX environment is highly customized, as I'm sure most are. So I'm going to speak to the power of customizations. I'll see you there.

Natalie,

I would have to say that we are not one of those highly customized SLX environments. We have one, what I'd say, 'major' customization (not extensive) and there are tweeks here and there.

What I've found to be a problem with highly customized environments is moving to new versions. Its not easy and very time consuming. Will you be covering managing upgrades in a highly customized environment?

Thanks,
John G.

That was actually covered at the "Partner" Insights2006 event this past May - I know.. I did it for Sage SalesLogix (two 90 minute sessions 5.2.x to v7.0 and 6.x to v7.0). Everyone who attended thought it was great! We also provided tools, etc. to make things easier.
However, I was not asked to do it for the Summit

I've added your session to my agenda. Frankly aside from the little bit of .NET I did in the SLX Development class I've not done any but I'm hoping that your session will push me in that direction more. I can't wait to get some new ideas and see 7.0 in action.

I am also speaking at a session:

Title: Yes, It Can Do That: Real-World Business Solutions Using SalesLogix
Tuesday, Nov 7 8:45-10:15

I noticed that the session agendas don't show the speaker name, so glad we're learning of some of the sessions here. I'm looking forward to hearing some of the forum regulars present at the Summit.

I do plan on making my presentation available on slxdeveloper.com (unless it is not allowed as part of some speaker agreement - in which case I'll put some articles together to cover the same material )
