Question 1) I wanted to get a list of community members that have their own blogs. Preferably with some SLX content, but even if not I'd still like to know.

Question 2) Would there be interest in having blogs hosted here at slxdeveloper.com?

Thanks!

Here's mine

1) My main blogs:
http://www.saleslogixblog.com/ - SalesLogix related blog. If I ever implemented blogs here I'd move it over.
http://www.ryanfarley.com/ - C# related blog

2) Yes, I'd be interested , but having blogs here would only be really beneficial if there was enough participation. I like community sites like dotnetjunkies.com (and many others like it) where the community can participate in a number of ways, forums, articles, and blogs. Kind of a nice way to have a ton of useful/helpful content all in one spot. I'd love to hear other opinions.

Mine are all listed in my profile.

1. http://www.huberstyle.com
2. I dont think so for me. But certainly beneficial for the community as a whole. Like you, I roll my own and enjoy that as much as blogging. I would guess that many SLX developers dont write their own websites necessarily and could benefit from a blog with a slxdeveloper.com at the end or at least as part of the url

#1. My blog is majikmarcer.blogspot.com That said it is pretty much devoid of any SLX content. It's just my general rants on stuff.

#2. I think that is a cool idea, especially for the more open business partners and more experienced SLX peeps. Heck it might not even be bad for people like me who can share experiences rather than filling the forums with goofy posts. (http://www.slxdeveloper.com/forum.aspx?forumid=7000&postid=5020) Granted I DID get help with that issue but I was beginning to talk to myself. LOL

I'm sure there are many interesting situations we all get into now and again that, while unique to our specific situation, may provide insight into the inner workings of SalesLogix and/or spark ideas for others. Learning from others mistakes, that sort of thing.

Bottom line...the more I think about it the more I like it. You should consider a search feature along with it though. I can bet there will be a serious swamp of info to trudge through. Additionally maybe two different RSS feeds, one for the individual blog (if someone is only interested in subscribing to a particular author) and one for all blogs (I doubt there would be so many that it would be too much, but I could be wrong). I suggest the "all blogs" feed would be like the forum feed. It could give readers the ability to sample a great deal more than they might otherwise.

Great idea Ryan.

I may post on something you're in the middle of, have done before, or have no clue about and it'd be cool to have some way to link it all together. I suppose that's what trackbacks and comments are for but it seems like it'd need a little something more. That said, nothing beats personal experience so even if I were to talk about the same thing it wouldn't exactly be the same if that makes any sense.

I think of it as the Forum is the place for answers but the blog is the place for ideas, though some answers would most likely appear there as well (to questions unasked to date or just plain not thought of). What about using that as a way to submit user samples without the "official" tie in? I have some ideas that I've grown over the years and can't possibly give proper credit to their origin or some decently worded explaination. Basically I've had multiple article ideas and other things I'd like to contribute, but not the time necessary to do it proper (nor are all of my ideas workable for everyone). Having a place to do that with relatively quick feedback would be pretty sweet.

I don't have time to keep mine up at http://www.saleslogix-guru.com What I like about my site (which I hardly ever update) is that the whole site is a blog. Whenever I update a page it automatically gets added to the blog page and then magic pinging or whatever happens to all the blog directories.

If I only had the time to keep it updated....

My blog contains very little SLX related and isnt meant for that. I wrote the software that it uses for learning more .NET when it was released - I dont need another one.
I subscribe to Ryans blog and it isnt updated daily or anything - but when it is... good content stuff I SHOULD BE READING and I am.

If Ryan gets a group of SLX related blogs together I will support them by reading and commenting.
