Anyone, I have added the additional columns and the corresponding DB tables and fields to opportunity contact table.

They display properly, the picklists work properly, but I cannot save any data to the grid, it appears I missing something?

Any thoughts?

Off the top of my head, I think that there is a part of the script that loads the columns using a query - it is to do with multi-currency.

You manually add columns to the grid and then the script just drops them all and adds what it wants. Modify the script.
