Jamie it really depends what the bank is wanting to use SalesLogix for. Right from SFA to CRM. Here is where the catch is. What does the bank want to do?

Automate CRM for
Commercial Banking Group
Retail Banking Group
Private Banking Group

Infact some of the core banking applications fall back on some of the CRM Capabilities, while some of the Core Banking product vendors are now switching to develop a CRM product that plugs with the core banking grouop as a part of their product offering.

Here is what SalesLogix will do in its current Avataar.

Deploy CRM as individual Sites at
Commercial Banking Group division
Retail Banking Group division
Private Banking Group division of the bank.

If you attempt a Customer data model that is across all the above divisions then the implementation can get complex. We have addressed these situations in India and our experience says that customization should be on the Web instead of the SalesLogix Client/Server combo.

Now when it comes to customizations of the Web Client two ways to do it using the SalesLogix WAPI and SalesLogix Web Host. Alternatively develop in ASP.Net and call these pages in the SalesLogix Web Application.

Ofcourse if you do it in Legacy SalesLogix WAPI then there is limitation in the way you do development in terms of RAD and SCCS.

SalesLogix has been deployed in Wells Fargo Bank in Australia.
SalesLogix has been deployed in HSBC Commercial Bank in India.

There's a SalesLogix BP who has specialized in the banking industry. If you're US based and would like to partner with a SLX BP you may want to call Gene Mehr at GuideMark. His number is 603-888-5500. Tell him I sent you! This is their focus and niche with SLX.
