Is it possible to RSS the forums? Would that solve some of the requests from other people?

Hi Stephen,
I've considered that as well. Problem is that I've never really liked any RSS feed from a forum, either I only get the initial post (and know nothing of replies to those posts) or the feed gives me every single post with no organization to it, just everything all together. Is there a forum you know of that has a decent feed I could check out for ideas?
Thanks. Ryan |

fiogf49gjkf0d Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions.
I haven't been as into RSS as I should have. To be honest, the only feed that I regularly look at is SlxDeveloper.com!
I wonder would it be possible to distribute a tree view of posts? Probably difficult because you can't really be tracking which posts each user has read/unread (or can you???) to generate the tree.
Hmmm...

acquistare cialis 5 mg cialis originale redirect Well you can expose comments to a post via commentRss. The RSS feed could show the original posts as items in the feed with replies or comments under the post as a commentRss feed under the posts. It all looks great and retains the heirarchy for the threads, but it all depends on if the aggregator/reader supports it.
Still something that could be useful. I just wonder how many people would use it. (??? ... anyone ???) |

Could get to be a bit much with long threads.
Another somewhat related idea - subscribe to posts, articles, comments by favorite contributors. |

Ryan,
I was just thinking of ideas for the site and straight away thought of an RSS feed for the forum. As usual, someone beat me to the idea. But in answer to your question, I would definately use it.

naloxone or naltrexone naloxone and naltrexone read fiogf49gjkf0d OK, OK, I'll do it!
Hehe, it is something I've added to my list for new items for the site. My two top priorities are fixing that stupid "New" label in the forum list, and better notifications of new posts.
Thanks!

fiogf49gjkf0d I have to admit, I am really liking the RSS feed for the forums. It is much easier to keep up on the activity. I usually don't like RSS for forums, but I've come to rely on the one for this forum - so thanks for talking me into it! |

fiogf49gjkf0d What readers are you all using? (Ryan I'm guessing you are using one you wrote ) I'm trying to use Sage with Firefox and I'm having trouble getting the feed. The Article feed on the main page works great but not the forum one. Sigh.
The feed reader built into IE7 doesn't seem to work either. Drat. |

fiogf49gjkf0d I use (and love) GreatNews. It is free from http://www.curiostudio.com/
As far as the Forum RSS feed goes, there is still an issue with the feed. Not sure why or how this is happening. I am using an XmlTextWriter to generate the feed and I flush it's contents to the HTTP Response stream. Problem is, I end up with a stray "<" at the end of the XML. Weird. Not sure why or how that is happening. Anyway, that is why IE7 doesn't like it, although other readers (such as GreatNews) are a bit more liberal and ignore that stay "<" at the end of the XML retured by the feed. I'll fix it, but not sure why it is happening now anyway (so not yet sure what to fix). I can only assume it has something to do with the data in one or some of the posts not being encoded right, but upon analyzing the data in the XML I can't determine anything that could be the problem. |

fiogf49gjkf0d I use GoodNews for Trillian. Works great with this site. Haven't tried it with the other yet, but if it works as well, I will be there.

fiogf49gjkf0d OK. I finally fixed the forum RSS feed once and for all. It now should work fine and without error with any RSS reader including the one built into IE7. |
