I love the suggestions that have been coming for the forums. Definitely keep them coming!

There are two areas that I would like some suggestions on:

1) Overall site navigation.
I am trying to revamp the overall navigation for the site. The forum areas (as Timmus pointed out) are tedious to navigate. Jumping from the main forum page, to a specific forum and then to a thread in the forum and back out again. It is a pain. What I am thinking of doing is adding a bar accross the top of the page for the major areas of the site (Articles, Forums, other, etc). Then as you click on that area the links down the left side of the page are specific to that area. So as you click on the "Articles" area the links down the left show the article categories (as they do now). If you click on the "Forum" area you see the forums listed down the left. Know what I mean? What do you think? Any other ideas for easier navigation?

2) Forum notifications. Is this working OK? As things are now, you get a notification when someone replies to you and also can subscribe to the daily forum digest. For the replies, I don't really like how that is working. I would prefer to just subscribe to the thread as a whole. I would love to see other replies to the thread and not just replies to my post on the thread. For me that would solve my needs (also the ability to watch a thread without posting to it). Is that enough. Would people want a notification for each new post on the forums? I don't want it to be overkill, but want it to be useful too. Any suggestions here?

Also, the main forum listing page needs to show which forums are new since your last visit also. That sucks . You can see which ones have new posts when you click into a forum, but not on the main forum page (how did I overlook that one?!) Anyway, on the list to fix.

Thanks!

Ryan

1. I like your suggestion of site navigation being across the top and contextual/area navigation being down the left or right side.

2. Being notified immediately when a new post is made is helpful as we might have a quick answer and can post pretty much immediately. Otherwise I only check the site a couple times a day. This is by no means a big deal but I would like to subcribe to notification for all news posts rather than getting the daily report.

Thank you Ryan!
