Is there any built-in function or report that tracks when a user uses they system? Preferably something that would say the user logged in at date/time and logged out on date/time?

I'm going to guess there is no such function or report. So this leads me to my next question. Is it possible to put hooks in somewhere to log this information?

Thanks,
John G.

Hmm, I'll take a look at that. I guess it might show me how to record logins. Maybe modify it to record the last several months (or longer) worth of logins.

Thanks!

you can capture logins/logout with DB Open/Close Actions found under Tools > Client Options. I imagine this is how Mike did it with his plugin.

Of course you'll have to consider that remote users may be "using" the system but not synching but non the less a report showing usage and perhaps a KnowledgeSync Alert to remind them ever so often (without spamming) to login / sync doesnt hurt either.

Remote users. We only have a couple, but if using Mike's plug-in I would guess they'll get an error relative to the table not being found.

I guess I could publish the table to them. Would it be as simple as that?

I would guess that Mike's Table already publishes to remotes but if not then yes pubilsh it to them. What I meant was that if you had a remote user logging in and out of SLX the data would be captured in the table showing when they last logged in however it won't appear in the main database until they sync. Thats all.

Mike's plugin syncs out to remotes. There are no errors about tables not being found since it knows to capture the login date on the remote database - and then reports the data back to the main database upon synchronization.

Mike does not use DB Open (it's been un-reliable since v5.2.5) - There are many postings in the Partner's NG on this. He does use DB Close to capture the logout. Logins are captured by a global event (script) handler. I've developed a variant of Mike's package (based on an earlier piece he did).
