I need to do some data validation before the save button is pushed on the Opportunity screen. How is this accomplished? thanks.

There is no Save button on the opportunity screen. If you mean the insert of an opportunity then look for the Function AXFormCloseQuery(Sender) - in here if you set it AXFormCloseQuery = False (if your validation fails) then it will automatically not close the form and enable them to try again !
