Validate against a picklist or...
Posted: 14 Dec 07 12:15 PM
I need to copy data (via vb) into a form. The text box i want to copy into is type PickList. How can I validate that what I am trying to insert into this field is in the picklist? The same question goes for combobox.
Thanks very much.

For the picklist, you can get the name of the picklist from the Control.PickList.Name property, then get a reference to the picklist from Application.Picklists or query the database:
select p1.id, p1.text, p1.shorttext from picklist p1 left outer join picklist p2 on (p1.picklistid = p2.itemid) where p2.picklistid = 'PICKLISTLIST' and p2.text = 'My Picklist Name'
Iterate through the items to validate your text.
For the combobox, you can just iterate through the Combo.Items collection. Make sense?
