Disabling "within current Group/Lookup" for usersYour last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

Hello all,

I am using version 6.2.6. I have created a group so that when the user logs in he will be able to see only set of accounts that satisfies a particular condition.

but, when i see the Lookup options, user will be able to search for particular account by name, city for the entire accounts and can see all accounts (that does not belong to the current grouping)). If i check the "within current Group/Lookup" only accounts from the current grouping is shown. I can make this option checked by default for all users from administrator settings, but user will be able to uncheck this again.

Is there anyway i can make it checked and disabled for users.

Thanks in advance for your time and help.

regards
mahesh

It really sounds like you want to just prevent certain users from seeing certain records. This is easily done by specifying ownership of the records and setting up teams in the Administrator application.

For example, if you create a team called General Users in Administrator, you can set the owner field to General Users (the default is 'Everyone') and then only members of the General Users team can see those records. If you wanted to have some records available only to management, for example, create a team called Management and set the ownership of the records (the owner field at the account level) to the new Management team.

You can then add the Management team to the General Users team which would give Management not only view of their own records, but also those of the General Users team (while General Users would have no visibility of the Management records).

Finally, leave records you feel comfortable with Everyone seeing with the owner of 'Everyone'. This means any user logged into the system can see it.

Hope this helps!

Hello Matt

Thanks for your reply. Yeps, my requirement is exactly the same. But in the real environment (client) they do not want any teams to be created. And by default all the Accounts owner is 'Everyone'(which the user cannot change) due to some other third party configurations.

Now i am able to sort out the records for a current user but through lookup search user will be able to search back all the accounts again since the owner of the accounts is 'Everyone'.

I there anyway to disable the checkbox or how do we put conditions in Lookup

regards
Mahesh

Check the SLX Lookup Support script Mahesh, I think I have seen the ability to disable the checkbox there (but you have to script the lookups then).

At the point you are at though when a client wants one thing that is perfectly aligned with standard SalesLogix functionality but wants another thing that conflicts with it, I usually tell them they need to make a choice.

Even if you lock the group lookup - end users will still be able to get at those accounts ANY NUMBER of ways, such as query builder...
