SQL Views in an Attachment datagrid
Posted: 13 Feb 08 1:58 PM
All, I understand that in 7.2 we can now use SQL views as we would tables. I am trying to place a field from a SQL view into the 2nd column the Opportunities Attachments data grid. This works if the field is in the last position in the grid, but I want it to be in the 2nd position. When I put the field from the view anywhere other than the last position, SLX crashes while loading the grid, generated repeated errors and has to be killed from Task Manager.
I've worked with Query Builder for many years and I've never had difficulty putting columns into any order I wanted. I suspect that this plugin is processing the recordset using relative positions in rather than field names, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there a way to put a field from a SQL view in a position other than last?

Nasty. You could try debugging the On Open event of the working version (after adding the column at the end) and see whether that gives you any clues.
Do the error messages convey any meaningful information?

The messages vary according to which position I put it. The first one us usually "Invalid column:sitecode." Sometimes there's a reference to SLX_Common, which is not one of the include scripts (although it probably is indirectly). After that the error refer to a vb dll and memeory that cannot be written to.
All of the recordset processing I've seen refers to columns by name, not position, so I don't know why adding something to the middle of the query would break it.

Interesting! Have you traced the calls leading up to the crash?
