Problem with Account addresses
Posted: 18 Apr 08 9:42 AM
This is for v6.2.6.
We had a situation in which several accounts and contacts lost their addresses. Because the entire address record is lost, users cannot find the account when they perform a lookup. The account still exists, but it does not show up in the lookup results. This can be fixed for each account (one-by-one) if we get a new ID for the ADDRESS table and fill in the street, city, state, and ZIP.
When tried to do this to fix all of the accounts at once, we failed. The address records were inserted, but you cannot see the accounts in the lookup results.
Does this sound like something that anyone else has encountered? Please let me know if I need to provide any more details or if you have any suggestions.
THANKS!

Yikes!
A good idea to fix this might be to run the integrity checker in the administrator. This does check for accounts that are not properly linked to an address record. Give that a try and it will likely fix this.

Your fix needs to put the accountid into addresss.entityid as well as the addressid into account.addressid. You may also need to have one and only one address per account have isprimary = 'T'.
