We currently have a process outside of SalesLogix that goes through the address table and updates the county field for each address. The application that does this is custom and uses a product from Melissa Data called Data Quality Tools.

It would be nice to do the address validation on-the-fly as users enter/update addresses. Has any one has used these tools to do address validation directly in SalesLogix?

Thanks,
John G.

If you have the table data that links a postal code with a city and an county it is fairly easy to customize the Add Address and the Modify Address forms so that they are setup to do input of the zip code and then prepopulate the state and county fields accordingly. What we have done in our system is have a radio button on the top of the Address change forms where they select USA, Canada or International. If they choose USA then the system uses our postal code table to identify the postal code input and then populates the City and State for them (it could post the county name as well, but that is not critical for us). This keeps data integrity higher and you can usually spot typos in inputting the postal code because they will see the wrong city / state combination.

Hi John, you might want to take a look at out PowerEntry product. As well as improving the whole add Account/Contact process, it includes sophisticated de-dupe management - beyond that of the standard product. It also provides enhanced address management, i.e. the ability to use any known address related to an account or associated contact. e.g. when you have multiple offices, but a single account record with contacts at lots of different (office) address.

However, further to that we also provide a number of out of the box integrations to Address Management systems such as Quick Address Software (QAS), Satori, Avalara a web based US data service. If other providers have a reasonable API/Service adding them in is a simple task and provides access when adding or editing an account or contact record.

If you are interested take a look at http://www.qgatesoftware.com/powerentry-for-saleslogix.html, you can download a 15 day trial, it might at least give you some useful ideas.

Regards,
Rowland.
