Association of Activities between Entities (Accounts and Tickets for example)

There is some discussion as to whether ALL ACTIVITIES generated in entities such as Tickets should also be associated and appear in the Accounts' Notes History. I would really like to get an idea of whether functionality is lost by not associating ALL activities with the Account. Do any SLX reporting or other abilities suffer as a result of activities not appearing in the Accounts’ Notes/History? I have heard the argument made that there is no point in adding more “clutter” to the Accounts’ Notes/History by associating all activities to the Account. But what is lost when all activities placed in an entity (such as Tickets) are not associated with the Account? In some cases activities are automatically placed in the Account's Notes/History when generated from another entity such as Tickets. This begs the question why is this important to SalesLogix and what suffers as a result of removing the activity association. Any thought or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I believe understanding this will help to determine what kind of automation should be enabled/disabled when activities are entered, and understand the damage, if any, that is done by not having activities listed in two places.
Thanks
