I am having a hell of a time trying to display only one tab under the tab section in a new mainview. The one tab shows when I choose show more tabs, but I just want that one tab to show up and not have more tabs as an option. I have went into Client Options and chose my tab, but it doesn't stay selected. As soon as I choose my tab, nothing shows in the list. I'm using SLX 6.2.4 1051. Can anyone help me ?

Did you use client options in the SLX Client or in Architect?

In Architect> Manage> Client Options
Then Click on the "Main View Tabs" button.
Then move to the Account tab, and uncheck your extra tabs.

Thanks for your reply. I have been in both the Client and Architect. This is a new view I created separate from the others. When I go to add tabs for my view, I see the tabs, but when I click ok on the selected tab the tabs list still shows nothing as if I didn't press ok in the first place accepting that I wanted that selected tab.

Did you create this tab as an Account View, or as a Data or Manage View? It has to be an Account view to show up on that list.

In the WorkGroup Admin under "Tools -> Options -> Client Plugins -> Main View Tabs" did you "Toggle Vis" for your custom tab?

If not set this. This will all the tab to the default layout.

Then start the Sales Client (or do a CTL+F5) and select "View -> Restore Default Layout" and make sure you answer Yes to "Do you want to restore the default tabs?" prompt.

If this does not work try dragging your custom tab to the "Middle Pane" and see if it sticks.

Rob - if you only truly want that tab. Open the MV and select the Tab section properties. Add the tab here from the available list. Then, back in the props for the tab section - switch off the More Tabs option.

My Main View is new and is bound to a custom table. I've tried creating the tab many ways. The only one that showed up is the data form when bound to it's main view table. The tab shows under (Tools > Client Options > Plugin > Main View Tabs > Then My Custom Main View). It allows me to select it... When I press ok it does nothing at all. I've done eveything that was stated here before, I'm just starting to suspect a reinstall might help, but then again maybe not...

Not sure a reinstall would help. Did you try Mike's suggestion? That's all I ever do.

Yes I did, that was the fist thing I did in the start of the main view project itself. I was thinking I wasn't seing the tab becuase I had to release them via the client options menu. So I tried that , but the tabs aren't even sticking... It's wierd, I'll choose the tab I need listed in the tree then select ok and the list shows nothing. The tab does show when I uncheck moretabsvisible. I am then able to dock the tab. When I uncheck the box ctrl + f5 the tab stays there but is not showed in the Client Options menu. I would have to go to each client machine and instert the tab manually.

Did you add a new family? You can't save your custom tab under the account family and have it show up in your custom mainview. Or it seems in this case it can show up but doesn't work as it should. You have to create a family for all of this, so that everything is lumped together.

The marketing bundle I believe is a good starting point for this kind of work, even though there is a lot of stuff that will get in the way of someone starting out. This is the only "stock" SalesLogix code I know of that creates a mainview outside of the TACO ones and does all of the necessary work of getting everything in place.

Rob

Sorry, I've just realise what you are saying.

You have a mainview and a set of tabs and it won't allow any of those tabs to be saved in Tools | Client Options.

I know exactly what you are saying - I have the exact same issue and it's a bug. I have escalated this to QA but no news yet.

To be honest I don't know. I've only just started using MV's (in their entirety with lookups, tabs etc) and I'm very impressed at what can be done but what does surprise me is that no-one else is seeing this/reporting this...

This problem has been present since MainViews were first introduced in 6.2. The weird thing is that it sometimes doesn't happen. A real pain. I always forget about this problem until I have the need to build another MainView for something.

The "bug" typically does not show up if you are building a new mainview from scratcjh )custom family and all) on a 6.2.3/4. What' shappening is that there are some missing entries in USEROPTIONDEF/USEROPTIONS. I've been down this path before and fixed it on a db or two. I'll dig in and post what records one needs to "contrive".

Hi RJ

This is what I did (from scratch) and I still see the issue. How can it be a user issue if it's architect/admin that won't allow the tabs to be selected/ordered in client options ?

Mike,
That's a different problem. In actuality, there are/were two problems:
A - The problem in Client Options - an executable issue
B - The problem w/records not getting created in Useroptiondef and Useroptions
