There are two groups with same names and with same families. They were created by different users. The access to these groups was granted to the current user. Does anybody know how can I get pluginid of the visible group?

There is a function named CurrentGroupID under Application.basicfunctions. You could create a navbar or toolbar button, launching a script containing:

msgbox Application.BasicFunctions.CurrentGroupID

Which should give you the pluginID for the current active group.

I am not sure what you are ultimately trying to do, but Jason's approach will get you the pluginid. Be advised that there is no guarantee that the user will always see the same group.
