Saleslogix Developer Resources and Certification

This is probably a larger topic, but here goes...
I've taken over our SLX installation and it's upkeep, upgrade and maintenance. It's a long story, but we were on 5.0.1 until Oct of 2007, when we went to 7.0.1.
The upgrade was pretty much done as an emergency, so we didn't fully flesh out our actual needs. Needless to say, we carried over a lot of baggage in the upgrade as our 5.0 version was heavily, heavily customized. I'm starting the process now of evaluating our current installation, looking for what we can remove, what needs to be updated or changed. I'm currently testing an upgrade to 7.5.
I have already attended the developer training. Very good class. I'm scheduled for the Administration class in January.
The one thing I'm looking for is reference materials. I know "about" the DevLogix books, but I don't really know which I should get. We are still on the LAN client, but would like to look at moving to web and/or adding mobile. Let me rephrase that. I think I should get III.7 (since it covers 7). I'm considering V for web. Has anyone used the workbook?
One last thing; In taking the developer course I found out I could get Developer certified. I took the test but didn't pass. Frankly there was stuff on the test that I flat out didn't recognize (and at least one answer I thought was wrong). Any tips on what to study/how to study for passing this test?
Any feedback would be most appreciated.
Thanks, Trent |
