Debugging: VS 2005 or 2008?Your last visit to this thread was on 1/1/1970 12:00:00 AM

We current are using SLX 7.2.2 and the generic Microsoft script debugger which is not working out really well. I'd like to use Visual Studio to debug going forward but I'm not sure which version I should use: 2005 or 2008? What is the consensus on this?

Also, do I need to uninstall the script debugger before install VS?

Thanks,
John G.

Hi John

Don't let the question of "which debugger is best for SLX" drive your choice of VS version. Choose whichever version suits your overall needs - in the name of progress, VS 2008 would be my recommendation, if you have no other constraints.

You do not need to deinstall the script debugger first. When a STOP statement is encountered and both are present, a window will appear presenting you with a choice of debuggers - at which point you can select VS as your default debugger.

Going forward was the question really. VS2008 is what will be installed.

Thanks!
