Hi there,
does anyone know how to switch the security context of a slx session (7.0) temporarily in a script?

Basically, I have certain data that are not to be seen by the users, these data are restricted to a certain user group by seccodeid.
Nevertheless, a vb script running in a user's session needs to query some of the data for calculations.

The only way I see to access that data from the vb script is to use a non-slx database connection but of course that would limit the chance to use the same script on different databases.
How can I switch a user context to admin (or any other privileged user) and back within a running script?

Regards
Stefan

Windows Client?

I believe that there is a function to get the Native connection which gives you a direct connection to the DB (yes, bypassing the provider, so build security into your code).
This shouldn't be a problem as long as what you are doing is Read Only, otherwise you would need to build a new Connection using the SLX Oledb Provider and login in with an appropriate user to make the changes.
