to prevent text from a Picklist Combo text box being empty
Posted: 16 Jun 09 3:35 AM
hello,
I have a Picklist Combo which I have put on the Account Detail view. The Text option in the properties is bound to the database. I have set Required, Users can't edit and Text must match item in the list.
What the problem is: if you click on the Picklist and select one of the items in the Picklist, the text is selected. But I can use the Back-space on the keyboard to clear the text.
How can I pevent this from happening.
Thanks in advance for your assistance

There is an allow clear property on the picklist control. If this is not on you should not be able to clear the contents of the picklist text. You can also set the required property of the picklist control. That will force the user to input values (There are still work arounds)> Also, note that having the picklist's required attribute and the picklist control's required attributes produces some strange behavior, you will have to try it out to see if it is acceptible.

Hi Kris, Thanks for the reply. On a Picklist Combo there isn't a clear option in the property. But I found a way to fix this.
Thanks again
