I am working with a client who wants to run their slx web server in the DMZ. This precludes the web server from belonging to the same domain as the SLX server. Has anyone done a deployment like this? Sage says it's possible. Does anyone have any information on this?

Why can't the SLX Server be on the DMZ as well?

It may be easier to grant Internal users access to the DMZ than allowing access from the Web on the DMZ to the SLX Server internally.

I have in the past configured SLX in a DMZ, but as stated, the SLX server and the Web server were hosted within the DMZ. All internal Users were configured as SLX Remote, so they didn't need a direct connection to the SLX Server. I also ended up implementing a custom HTTPS engine for Synchronization.

So, at the end of the day, the only connection out of the DMZ into the Network was the SQL connection, which were configured on a Custom port, and the only Incoming connections were for SLX and the Synchronization both running over SSL.

There are probably may other ways to configure it, but one needs to take into account the complete configuration of your Solution (e.g. Windows Client, Remote Clients, Remote Offices, Mobile Clients, etc).

Dave,

This is very doable. Mostly you need to concern yourself with the user name and password (must be identical in DMZ and domain) of your WebDLL user. SLX has no additional requirements for running in a DMZ; it is mostly a Network job

There is an old thread on slxdeveloper.com about this that an Advanced Search on Google should find.
