Hi.

Does anyone know if I can set the priority of a newly created activity from the code?

Yes you can update the activity.priority field via custom code.

You can not modify the existing Add/Edit dialog, however you should not need to as the Prioroty field is already on the dialog.

I'm guessing but do you mean the default priority? BasicFunctions.CreateActivity doesn't have a parameter for priority. You can trick the Add/Edit screen into picking a default by changing the priority picklist's default value. By playing with the picklist properties of the other fields, you can somewhat scuplt how the activity is going to turn out.

Based on the CreateActivity, it's easy to go back and change any data within the activity...

dim LstrActivityID
LstrActivityID = CreateActivity("Meeting", LstrContactID, "", "", "", LstrUserID)

Create the data connection and modify any field within the activity where the ActivityID = LstrActivityID

We have an application that schedules jobs for Omnirush and utilize CreateActivity to create the UPS job, then go back and change the category to '_UPS'. Works like a charm.

You can also use the System:OnCompletedActivity or the System:OnScheduledActivity scripts. These scripts will fire when an activity is completed or scheduled. Using these will ensure that you can set the priority for an activity whether you launched the activity screen (via CreateActivity) or if it was launched from some other menu/toolbar/etc.

So, if you use the OnScheduledActivity scripts, you get the activityid of the activity just scheduled, and then you can follow it up with a trip to the database to set some default priority. Not quite as good since it does it after the fact (the user would never see your priority when they were scheduling the activity since it is set after the screen closes), but the alternative would be to add the activity data to the database first, and then call EditActivity to bring it up on screen (which is also not quite the same)
