My internal customers have modified their primary Sales Process from a 6-Stage Sales Process to a 12-Stage process. For Active Opportunities only, they want to convert from one Sales Process to the other. I am talking particularly about maintaining SP history and for instance, mapping a Stage 3/Sales Process 1 to Stage 7/Sales Process 2 kind of thing. Another developer agreed with me, that this is a sizeable effort and very hard to do.
Has anyone developed an easy way to do this? Comments otherwise.
Thanks much!

I agree that this isn't an easy task, it is a very involved effort.
For instance, you need to figure out what additions and modifications need to be applied to the SALESPROCESSAUDIT table.

I have done things such as renaming steps/stages and probabilities and updating those on existing opportunities. That is somewhat simple, but having to add the additional steps and remap data is going to be more complex but I believe it can be done.
