Do not attach email signature gif or jpg

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi all.
We have SLX LAN v7.2.1.
Is there a way to not allow SalesLogix to attach jpg or gif into the attachments tab for email signatures. We are noticing the majority of the files in the attachment tab are gifs and jpgs of images from the email signatures that get attached.
Thank you in advance! |

fiogf49gjkf0d Yep, add this to the registry:
================ SIGNATURE IMAGES ================ If your company has an image as part of the standard Outlook signature, the slmn.dll will try and attach it every time you send an email using Send SLX. To prevent this create the following registry keys.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Outlook\MinImageSizeTolgnore - (String or integer). The Size (in bytes) of the image (JPEG, JPG, BMP, and GIF) files to ignore. Graphics files below this value will be ignored and a user will only be prompted if there are other files of a larger size.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SalesLogix\Outlook\IgnoreFileNames - a list of files to ignore. These should be separated by semi-colon. You can use * and ? as wildcards. The files matching the criteria will be ignored. E.g. "*.jpg;signature.gif" This can be applied to all file types and not just images. |

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Mike,
thats fine as far is it goes, but the other issue is on recevied mails. We have a couple of clients who are getting quite "frustrated" at the amount of noise being added to attachments from when they save attachments. i.e. there is no option to select which attachments you want to save from within an email. Generally you just want to save the document, PDF etc, but in doing so SLx will save the signature images everytime.
Not only does this bloat the database with un-required files, it make using the attachment tab a PITA. The amount of jpg, pngs, etc you have to scroll through to get to the doc/PDF etc that you are looking for is rediculous. Even in our own internal DB this is a real pain. I have posted a request in the Ideas forum on the community, about some form of save select attachement option and/or a filter function on the attachments tab, however this doesn't solve the underlying issue or save space.
Sage need to take a closer look at this area and make some improvements. My understanding is nothing has changed in the forthcoming new release, which has not gone down well with my clients.
Cheers
Rowland. |

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Rowland
Which is why I prefer having a .MSG file (instead of the individual files). Not only does it solve the above - but also means you have the original email in all it's glory (as opposed to a text equivalent). Switch this on in Admin and be done with it ! I don't see any real advantage of doing it "the old way" !
Regards Mike

We actually have a product now that monitors attachments and can automatically remove the noise.
The official name is "SalesLogix Sync Attachment Monitor" - but we affectionately refer to it as the "Attachment Nanny". This runs as a small service on your SLX System
Select file types and thresholds
Delete automatically or archive for x days
Maintains a log of what it has done & can email it to you automatically
if you are interested in details - email me directly walters at radishtools dot com
(We don't have a product page for it on the web site yet.... sorry)

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi Mike,
That look slike a great idea, but I can't seem to find how to do this in Admin. Can you direct me to where this setting is?
Best regards. Dan

fiogf49gjkf0d Mike,
Thank you for your quick response. All I see in Tools->Options->Outlook is a checkbox to "Activate Advanced Outlook Integration" and a listbox to add domains to exclude from Send SLX. I did not see Outlook as a menu option directly under Tools, only under Tools->Options. We are using SalesLogix Network version 7.5.0.1484. Am I missing something else?

fiogf49gjkf0d Ah. That explains it. We have the 7.5.4 upgrade nearly ready, so I can make it until then. Thank you very much for your help!
Best regards, Dan
