Adding a check box to the add new contact form

fiogf49gjkf0d Hi all.
I have never done any scripting in SalesLogix but I would like a checkbox (which we added to the contact detail view) to the "Add a New Contact" form. But when I called Sage they told me that would have to be done through scripting and that was out of the scope of their technical support. So, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, unless it's too complex for a novice like me.
Thank you in advance! |

fiogf49gjkf0d Fabian, although adding a checkbox isn't something really difficult in the realms of what customizations can be made in SLX I would suggest that your best path might be your BP for assistance. That form has a few touch points and you really don't want to get into a mess with it.

fiogf49gjkf0d Fabian,
I have to agree with RJ. While adding simple controls like a checkbox (with no scripting involved) is relatively simple, modifying some of the 'major' SLX forms can be dangerous. It's like fooling with the Registry in Windows. If you don't know what you're doing you can make a mess or kill your system.
That said if you choose to go about this process create a test enviroment first. That way if you DO screw up the Add New Contact form you are not taking out the production system. Once you can confirm the change worked without breaking anything SLX has done then you simply bundle your changes and apply them to your live database. Most of this level of customization is covered in the Admin class for SLX. If you're going to be doing this kind of customization regularly I'd highly recommend that class, if you've not already taken it. If this is a 'once in a blue moon' custom, as RJ suggested, talk to your business partner. It shouldn't cost much at all to have this done.
Hope that helps. |
