Find/Replace with Regular Expressions

Hello
I'm feeling a little out of my depth here, as I've never programmed in VB and only just started using SalesLogix.
However, we have a bunch of poorly formatted data from a legacy program that we carried over into SalesLogix. All the data is crowded into the first cell, and the next 2 cells are void of data.
An example would be:
S#: ##### M#: ### P#: ##
all in the first cell, when in reality we want only the numbers, and in three different columns
There are a couple variations on this theme, but that's the gist of it. My primary question is; is this possible to script in SalesLogix? If so, where can I start to learn how to do that?
Thank you.

Jordan yes you can create a small vb script and run it from a button inside of SLX to do what your asking..
The method I might try is:
1. Create a recordset of the data
2. Parse the field into seperate variables as you need them
3. Update the database with the return values after parsing.
I'm not sure if you need an example of code for that or just the concept.

Thank you.
I'd strongly suggest you hook up w/someone to assist you and do a "technology transfer" to you. There are good folks out there who can get you thru this .. and a lot who don't know which end of the mouse to hold onto.
You could try to "hack" your way thru w/hints, etc.. but there's nothing lik e learning from a "master"
It will save you a lot of time and be well worth it.

Good advice. I've actually found some people to work with this; thanks for the excellent site and forums.
