SLX 6.2 sp3. I have added an item to the Main Menu under Tools/Manage/My New Item. In the administrator under Userprofiles/Menus, the entire section "Manage" has access removed. The menu item in question doesn't appear in the list in the administrator. Is there a way to lock these custom menu items down?

I would like to avoid creating seperate screens for my utility accessed through the menu item and releasing to different groups if possible.

Thanks
Steve K.

Steve,

I suggest adding a new menu that merges with the existing menu. Do not modify the standard menu plugin. If you take this approach upgrades will be less of a pain as well as give you the security granularity you are looking for.

First, add a new menu plugin that adds your item to Tools | Manage. Last, only release the menu plugin to the folks that should have access to the utility.

Hope this helps.

Option 2:

1. Add records to the secfunctions table (stock feature in 7). This will show up in the Admin menu security area.
2. Tie your menu to that function action
3. Using global scripts, handle the function

Here is a more detailed explanation:
