Is there a way to hide the main buttons in the SalesLogix client (v6.2).

Specifically I want to hide the "Library" and "Campaigns" buttons.

The NavBar and ToolBar items are defined in the "Standard Toolbars" toolbar plugin. You can either modify this or create another toolbar that will over lay this toolbar that will modify or turn off items.

When I want to change things I create an addition toolbar and use a Remove or Replace "Merge Rule:"

Agree w/your last statement.. "Merge Rule" approach.

It is strongly suggested to never alter the OOTB Menus/Toolbars/NavBars.
Create your own that will merge "out" or "in" your changes and add them to the end of the list. This way, SP's/HF's and Upgrades will have little impact on your changes.

I've had to go into a lot of client systems and "repair damage" done by folks who alter the OOTB versions.

How does that "merge rule" work? Can it be used to show, say, the Campaign Management button if the user is in a certain department, but not otherwise?

NavBars, ToolBars, Menus are just plugins.. and follow plugin rules.

Departments have no security status.. use teams.

Here's a related follow-on question for V7.

Can the toolbars themselves be hidden?

For example, if I want to hide the Marketing toolbar for all users, is there a way to do it using merge rules?

I know that I can un-release the toolbar - but that still means that admin can see it. In this case, I would prefer it to be hidden from admin too.

Thanks.

Toolbars, Menues, etc are controlled by security.. it's all in the "release". Unless you want to write special code in the Global Scripting (event handler) area to handle secfunctions, you cannot hide anything from the admin user since the admin user completely bypasses ALL SalesLogix Security (Hard-coded that way).

Thanks RJL - thought so, but worth checking.
