E_Fail Status

fiogf49gjkf0d Hello, I am trying to run a routine in an active form to get some data from a GoldMine table and update a one to many table off Opp_Product called C_Opportunity_Product - matching on the Goldmine Acct number which exists in my SLX table. The routine runs fine for a while, making the updates as it is supposed to. Evenutally the following error appears, or if I put 'On Error Resume Next' the client just crashes.
Data Provider or other service returned an E_Fail Status.
It fails on the line where the update is executed.
Any thoughts? I am really not sure where to go with this one. Tech support didn't know.. thanks

fiogf49gjkf0d Your problem is likely one of the following (these aren't the only possible causes, just a few common ones I could think of)
1) Are you executing a SQL statement to do the update/insert? If so then you likely have invalid chars in the string. This is a non-issue if you use an updateable recordset instead. This one is probably the most likely cause - I've run into this with GoldMine notes fields before.
2) Could it be that you're attempting to put values longer than their target fields will allow?
3) What about data types (like putting th value "$1,000" into a numeric field or something). GoldMine sucks when it comes to enforcing user input, so you really should expect about *anything* to be in those fields. This could definitely cause an issue.
Start with these. Absolutely, if you're just executing a SQL statement change it to an updateable recordset. Other than that, I would guess the problem is coming from the data you are attempting to put into the database from GoldMine, not your code specifically.
