SalesLogix uses VBScript.

(BTW, no need to post in multiple forums - I'll remove the duplicates for you)

In SLX, you use VBScript for everything, not just validations. Code behind forms, working with textboxes, datagrids, etc is all done with VBScript. That's not to say that I like it, but it is just how it is.

Any VBScript book would work for SLX for learning syntax/methods/etc for VBScript. Of course, SLX is it's own beast, and there will be much that you'll only learn with jumping in and playing. Look at existing scripts to learn the basics.

Respected Sir,

Thank you for your advice. To day i am feeling very happy that i got one director to direct me in SLX. From so many days i am waiting for help to learn SLX but no body in my friends circle ae working on it .But my company has installed SLX and projects is going to be started form tommarow but i learn some thing regarding UI in SLX client part but customizations i am not able to do that. I will start learning the VB script right now. The reason behind why i need customizations are i need to import data from excel sheet to contacts and accounts. I tried it in import wizard but i didn't get that . How to import contacts or accounts from excel sheet ?

With kind Regards

The Import Wizard doesn't import directly from an Excel document but you can convert it to a CSV file and import that way. The Import Wizard takes a little practice but it's not too bad. It's also not the most robust tool.

You can also write VBScript within SalesLogix to do more specific imports. That take a pretty good understanding of ADO and coding.

Vamsi,

As I posted to you in another forum, I am also a SLX beginner. I have stumbled through and am learning as I go. My best to you!

As for the import of Account/Contacts from an excel sheet this is the easiest method I found. Add a field CATEGORY and input "SyncSalesLogix" in all rows of contacts (if all are going into SLX). Save the Excel spreadsheet as a CSV file then import this list of contacts into Microsoft Outlook. I then use the Outlook Integration (with "SyncSalesLogix" filter) to synchronize importing all contacts in my Outlook with the category type "SyncSalesLogix". Be cautious though, because at times when users use this synchronization method of importing contacts other contacts outside the SyncSalesLogix category type are imported. FYI - To my understanding this method has not been perfected and I was advised to only use Export for Outlook Integration.

Can anyone go into detail as to why Synchronization imports (at times) more than the SyncSalesLogix category type from Outlook when filters, etc are put in place? As I stated I'm new to SLX as well and management does not like the fact that they cannot use the Synchronization feature but only Export.

I hope this helps Vamsi, and thank you to any that will explain the Integration issue.
