Can anyone share some information on creating custom tabs for the leads portion of the sales client. I am looking to create some extention tables to store additional information in the leads section. I need to know what type of form to use and how to link them to the leads section so I can add them as a default tab.

Create a new form that is a "Data Form". Select "Lead" as the base table. That is all

Once created you can open the MainView plugin called "System:Lead Details", select the "TabsPane" and then open the "DefaultTabs" property to add the form to the default tabs for the Leads area.

Sorry to bring up such an old post, but ...

I did the above with a form for Leads and yet it doesn't show up when as a Leads tab or in the More Tabs list. Tried it again copying the Details form and changing it, and that one as well won't show up. I've released the changes to the mainview to everyone and am signed in as Admin, yet no-go. Is there another step that I missed? I'm in 7.0.1.

Also, when I opened up the Details form to save as, I noticed it didn't have a family and that Lead isn't in the family drop-down, so I saved both my forms under System instead.

TIA!

Open the Lead Details MainView plugin and add the form to the Tabs collection, it should then show up just fine (assuming that the form is also based on the Lead table as well)

Also, did you check to see if it was listed in the More Tabs? Could it have been hiding there? I've seen it before when the tab was hiding on the More Tabs, but the MainView was set to not show the More Tabs tab.

Yep, I did all of the above. When I go into the Lead Details mainview I can see that in the TabsPane DefaultTabs, and MoreTabsVisible and Visible are both checked. It's not listed in More Tabs. What's more, when I go into Administrator I can pull up the Admin profile, goto the Security tab, pick Entity Name "LEAD" and set it as the Detail View -- and that actually works!

But it still doesn't show up in the tabs pane.

The problem was that someone removed Lead from the plugin families for form, etc. I'm not sure how all that works, but when I added it in and did a save as on the form and saved it under that family, it worked.
