  Adobe has APIs for PDFs.  How extensive they are and whether they can do what your asking is questionable.
  It has always been our experience to use a text file instead of a PDF file.  This is more easily manipulated within VB or any other language that has string manipulation.  I have a feeling that if you were to do this from a PDF you would be spending alot of time just manipulating the PDF into something usable.
