I started working with the rich text control recently. Here are some of my findings so far. The ShowToolbar property is all or nothing. It will hide the New and Open menu as well as the cut, copy, and paste icons. I turned this off to save space on the screen, because the right click popup menu will still provide all of the options.
Notes from my findings:

Create a demo tab with a rich text control to identify its abilities and limitations.
1. Allow formatting font size, color, bold etc. YES
2. Save and reformat YES
3. Visable on reports YES
4. Queriable in a group NO - Due to memo field limitation
5. Queriable in SQL YES
6. Supports Shit + F9 YES
7. Supports Auto time stamp YES but it causes it to lose all formatting which is bad?
8. Supports spell-checker ?
9. Works in Crystal Reports Yes. Format the field's Paragraph tab Text Interpretation to RTF Text.
10. Supports bullet points Yes in SLX but they are not visible in reports
11. Able to Email ?
Notes:
Highlight a section of text. Then right click and select font to set font color and other features.
Highlight a section and drag the top arrow pointing down to indent the section.
I need to checkout how to add spellcheck.
