ListView spacing and extra grid lines
Posted: 02 Oct 07 8:42 AM
Hello all,
I am wondering if there is a way to get rid of extra rows if there are only a couple of records in the ListView. I have it next to a datagrid and would like it to look exactly the same - In the data grid if there are only a few rows the space below the records is blank. In the listview it fills in the blank space with blank rows (including grid lines).. Also the spacing in the listview is a touch closer together than the Datagrid so hoping I can control this also.
Thanks

Really the only way to change that is to turn off the grid lines in the listview. It's either all or nothing.

I've been struggling with spacing in a listview control and just worked it out yesterday with SDK - a defect will be submitted as a result of our findings. Long story short, the spacing worked fine in 6.2, but got too narrow (perhaps 10 characters) in 7.2 to be useful (same form, no changes). Recreating the Listview in 7.2 had no effect.
In my scenario, I was using checkboxes with the item and the ViewStyle was vsList. The list was being loaded entirely through code. You can replicate the issue in architect at design time if you play with the item collections and various properties (after you have added items at design time). The workaround at the moment is as follows:
Add items to the list at design time – there must be items when the listview in instantiated so that it has some reference other than the default width. Then, when loading the list in code, DO NOT call the .Items.Clear method – this method appears to destory and reinstantiate the items collections and reverts the width back to default – instead I coded my own ‘clear’ as follows:
For i = 0 to lvCapacity.Items.Count - 1
lvCapacity.Items.Delete(0)
Next
Viola'.
