An example would be helpful....(requested on Partner's NG as well).

the grid is already sortable.

If I want to Sum Column 7 and Count Column 8 and display total7/count8 as an average price footer text 'field' how do I do that. (OK do I know that Columns are 0 based and the 0th based field is the invisible Key field for a Grid?)

I believe the phone call took care of the problem.. right?
.. have to watch for that (column) property dialog going off-screen to the right My guess was that a SalesLogix developer was using a high res screen (GT 1024x768) and "mis-placed" teh top right corner.. thus pushing the dialog (partially) off-screen. Dragging it back will let you see the "footer" button.
