If I'm in an F8 List view, how do I programmatically shift to the detail view without changing the group, the group selection, and the group count?

If I'm in a Split View and want to show a different, say ACCOUNT, but keep the group pane intact....how do I do that>

app.bf.SetCurrentAccountId or app.mvs.GetViewForRecord change the Group that's being looked at.....
