Autosize Controls

i need some help resizing panels on a form.
I have a form used as a MainView.
This form has two panels. The Top panel I can set to Align.Top and the panel correctly sets the width of the panel to fit the client area at run time.
My problem is with the splitter panel that is to sit below the top panel.
How can I get that panel to correctly fill the width of the client area at run time? I will also need to move the splitter line to always be in the center.
I attempted to set the second panel.width to that of the top panel. Doesn't work.
