I need to displasy two different forms base on a global flag on the Contacts Main View... I gues I can place the content of each into a panel but I would like to know the way to manipulate the ViewName Property of the DetailsView programmaticaly...

Thanks

I don't think you can achieve what you're looking for programmatically. The DetailsView property is an object so there is no way of setting it reliably (unless of course you knew how to create and populate the object). The only other property I know of that behaves this way is the picklist's PickList property that is an object but also has the PickList.Name property which allows you to set it to the string representation. DetailsView has no such "subproperty" in 6.2 at least (typing Application.MainViews.ActiveView.DetailsView. brings up nothing in Intellisense) but it may be different for v7.

What you could do is either create one detail view that has a "base" panel with all information then 2 segregated panels that you will show/hide based on the global flag. That's the easiest approach. The harder approach would be to use a "base" detail view and show a different view as the middlepane based on the global flag. I've personally gone the panel route so I know it works, the middlepane route should work in theory but it may suffer from the same problem the detailsview property does.

Thanks Jeremy...
sometimes knowing what you cannot do is as good as knowing what to do... This way, I wll not waste more time trying something that will never work... Again: Thanks
