I know this is probably not the right place for this, however I am running out of options.  With no changes to the db, we came in this morning and are unable to connect any client software to the database.  The error we receive at login says:

Error reading _1.OpportunityWizardViews.Strings:  Invalid property value.

We had one client which did not reboot last night and with a reboot of the server and an F5 at the client, it is still able to access data and perform functions as normal.  We just cannot connect any other clients (Sales/Support/or WGA/Architect).

After clearing the error above, you get the following extremely informative message:

An unknown error has occured trying to connect to the database.

If anyone can shed some light, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks...ChrisD

Were there any Windows updates applied to the Clients prior to the reboots ?

No, that was one of the first things I checked...

We did a restore to the previous days backup and it works fine.  Something changed yesterday in a table somewhere that we are trying to identify.  It appears that it will not even connect to the data.  When you try to login, everything works fine (bde, etc.).  Right now, when you type in your password and hit ok, the cursor doesn't even move from that field.  It is as if it is doing nothing and then if you hit ok again, you get the second error mentioned in the original post.

If anyone could suggest which tables to replace between the two days to see if there is something configuration wise that could be the issue, that would be appreciated.  Along this line, we have already tried replacing the plugin table and it did not change anything.

Thanks...

ChrisD

Plugin

Resynctable

sectabledef

Well you know the old TRUNCATE TABLE stuff can wreak havoc on a SLX database.....
