Last Modify Date
Posted: 19 Jun 07 2:24 PM
I am creating a listview in SalesLogix 6.2.6 and my users want to see the last time an opportunity was modified. This sounds easy but since the data is stored in a number of different tables the last time the opp was updated could actually be stored in any number of different tables. We currently use a sql statement to determine which of the modify dates is most recent and return that, but I cannot find a way to use that with the view. Does anyone have any idea how I might accomplish this?

Add a LastTimeOppModified date time field to a 1:1 extension table off of Opportunity.
Expose the date/time in a readonly, Button invisible DateTime control on the Opportunity Detail view with some catchy label: "Last Time You got off your rear and did something about increasing sales" always works.
Then insert a script on each of your forms that you want to state "this affects the OppModifiedDate"...then figure out how to capture the fact that that record actually changed (and not simply a user changing 5 to 6 to 5 and then exiting the form.....that's NOT a change).
You can't go after ModifyDate prior to 7.01 as not all records were updated by SLX explicitly......the OLE DB Provider now is supposed to write to every table/record that has an update statement issued for it........and update the ModifyDate, ModifyUser......
So it's the most recent ModifyDate of X tables where OpportunityID = TheCurrentOpportunityID.
And then you can show the datelastmodified any of 10 tables in a List View.....
