Hello

we are going to upgrade SLX from 7.2 to 7.5 and use web version. Do we need to install any software for customization(web develpment)? Or Application Architect is only the tool to use?

Thank you.

Galina

Visual Studio is very handy for the more advanced customizations.....

Another tool that I always like to have handy is .NetRefrlector. It comes very handy when trying to figure out things work...

Another handy tool is Fiddler. It alows you to troubleshoot the behaviour of the portals from the client side perspective (it shows you all the communications betwen server and your navigator, like a web profiler).

And i cannot remember but firefox have a plugin for performance testing.

Given this is you first foray into SalesLogix web if you are not a partner. I would strongly stress aligning yourself with a development partner. Especially if you have any form of complex customizations that need to be ported over.  Its a completely different process then the lan and can be frustrating if you take the same approach.

Firebug (a Firefox add-on) is a great tool to debug what's going on with a web application.

In my experience, a bugtracking tool is mandatory (there will be countless issues during the migration). I strongly suggest to have a development and test environment, not only a dev environment. This will help you have a stable test process while developing at the same time.

All the migrations I have participated in have had their own particular issues, and it's amazing how varied this problems can be. LAN and Web are very different, so if your deadline is a a few months ahead and/or you don't have much time to experiment (and time = money!), I would also suggest aligning yourself with a development partner.
