SLXOLEDB.1 provider specified cast is not valid error

fiogf49gjkf0d My application has stopped working with the slxoledb.q provider only on one machine. It works fine on my dev and test servers but on the production server I get this error when trying to open the connection with the provider:
[6/7/2006 3:08:09 PM] System.InvalidCastException: Specified cast is not valid. at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException..ctor(IErrorInfo errorInfo, Int32 errorCode, Exception inner) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.ProcessResults(Int32 hResult, OleDbConnection connection, Object src) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.ProcessResults(Int32 hr) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.InitializeProvider() at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open()
Any ideas?
thanks, anna |

fiogf49gjkf0d The Specified Cast exception is one that is not correctly reported by the provider. The "invalid cast" is happening at the provider lever when attempting to pass the error details back to a .NET exception object. So you're not really seeing the *real* error.
Since the exceptions stack trace is going back to OleDbConnection.Open, the problem is most likely with the connection string. Focus there and see if something doesn't look right, also ensure the SLX server (and underlying database) is visible from the machine this is happening on (ie" no firewalls inbetween etc) |
