SalesLogix DataBase connection is lost on its own
Posted: 14 Nov 08 8:43 AM
Here is the scenario in brief:
- We are running SalesLogix DataProvider Version 7.0.2700 on Windows 2003 Server.
- There is a .NET 3.5 Web Service that uses the SalesLogix DataProvider to Get/Set information in a SLX DB using the SalesLogix DataProvider
- This has been running fine for over 2 years with previous versions of SLX (6.2 ) and .NET (2.0).
- Recently, the SLX Connection gets inactive randomly and call to the Web Sevice gives following error:
Error executing a SOAP function. Error: Server was unable to process request. ---> Cannot connect to the current database. Error: No error message available, result code: E_UNEXPECTED(0x8000FFFF).
Only a Reboot of the Server fixes this issue. The application consuming this web service works fine during testing. But the error stats coming on its own after sometime.
Any clues will be helpful.
Thanks,
Vikas

Vikas,
Is this Web Service on the same box as the SalesLogix server?

Yes Carla, the .NET Web Service is on the same box as the SalesLogix server. This has run error free for almost 2 years, untill it started giving problem recently.

A couple of things to investigate
When the SLXService looses connection; is it still running in the task manager?
Is there any information thrown to the Event log?
Are both of your service set to Never Expire in the Registry (instructions in SLX docs)?
Is your DB on the same box? If not - Has that Server thrown anything to the Event log?
