I've had the same kind of problem with the same error message.

In ISS 7.5 I have change the identity settings in the application pool under Advanced Setting from the Built-in account: "Networkservice" to a Custom account with administration rights(like a admin user of the server). This solved my problem

But in time you need to find which rights is necessary for connecting to the SLX Provider.

I am receiving the same error on a website running on Windows 2008 Server R2 and trying to use the SLXOLEDB.  I've done what was mentioned above including setting the identity to an admin user for the application pool.  I still get the E_FAIL(0x80004005) error.  Is there an update to this topic?  I assume others are having to run on Windows 2008 Server R2.  It is a 64 bit server if that matters.

You dont need other files you need to follow the Implimentation Guid for creating the WebDLL user and that user has to be the Identity on your app pool and Website.

You need to setup the WebDLL Windows user per the Implementation Guid on your web server and use that user as the Identity for your app pool and website.

Thank you.  I'll see if the customer will set that user up then I'll change the Identity to that user.
