I know that this is another thread with this same error message but this is a different scenario. I am trying to write an application that uses the saleslogix provider to connect to the database, but I do not want saleslogix installed. I want to be able to have my installer package setup everything required to use the salelogix provider. Is there any information on how I might be able to install the saleslogix provider locally on the machine from my installer package?

Check your install CD. The provider can be a seperate installation and there are instructions on the SP1 Cd for this- just browse it. You should be able to automate this in your install script.

I have the provider installed on several machines such as web servers without the need for client.

Chris:

You can probably get away by distributing what is found on the "Client OLE DB Provider" folder on the SLX CD, but as an additional hint, the SLX installer for the Provider typically doesn't install MDAC even though it is required for the provider to work. So, make sure you include this on your installer package. (I would also go with MDAC 2.8).

Glad to see you participating on this forum. Good stuff...

I have been using the Bootstrap Manifest Generator to try and add the Saleslogix OleDb Provider install package as a requirement for the installation. I keep getting a very general error 1609 when trying to install from the new package using bootstrapper. The installer runs fine when I install it individually. Does anyone know of any good guides to doing this?
