I have a VB.Net project that has been working great for the last couple years. I recently tested the project on Windows 2008 with SLX v7.5, and the component cant start. The issue comes into play when I create a reference to the SLX COM. Normally, if I try to reference the COM and SLX is open, I'm able to reference the COM without any problem. Now, when I reference it, it doesn't see the currently open SLX Session, and tries to open a new one. This would be OK, except that even after the new one opens, the code hands on the line "Set slx = CreateObject("SalesLogix.SLXApplication"). After a few minutes it eventual times out.

I tried a test with a VB script with the same reference, and it happens there as well. The issue appears to be with Using the SLX COM on Windows 2008 or Vista.

Has anyone had any luck using the COM in this environment?

After some more testing, it looks like this may be related to the Beta SP2 for SLX v7.5.

If anyone else would like to confirm, you can just copy the below into a VBS script on your desktop and test...

call main

sub main()
Dim slx
set slx = CreateObject("SalesLogix.SLXApplication")
msgbox slx.ConnectionString
end sub
