Newbie here. We recently purchased SLX and I was given the task of customizing it. Can anyone point me to a good resource that will assist in creating a custom sales process?
Thanks in advance.

First thing you want to do is be clear about the definitions of Sales and Contact Processes

Sales Process - A process assigned to an opportunity. Used primarily as a way to help close an opportunity
Contact Process - A process assigned to a contact. Used primarily as a follow-up process to campaigns

Be sure to load up Architect and read the Help section called 'Adding Processes' located under the 'Creating and Editing Customizations' topic. This goes along way in understanding what is available to you when mapping out a sales or contact process.

Next, you want to script either type of process on paper or in Visio before attempting to create it. Make it plausible. And you must work with the people who will be using it or at least the manager/director or marketing department. If you are left alone to create a process based on a directive akin to, 'Oh, just create a process that will track the phone calls we make to a contact' will not do. There are quite a bit of other things that are available to you that they won't even thing of. Believe me, I've done this.

For instance, in a contact process you can have a complete phone dialog appear and when that step is completed you can automatically send an email to the contact thanking them for speaking with you. This email is totally customizable via Manage Templates. And the manager/director/marketing are the people who must compose this email. We've found that automatically sending the email is best because its done behind the scenes and the company message we want to send to the contact is exactly what we want. Not some interpretation of the message by a sales rep that, well, will most times be not be consistent or may not even convey the correct message! Believe me, if you read some of the emails send to prospects by a rep your jaw would be on the floor.

I hope this little brain dump of mine helps you get started.

Good Luck!
