I have a plugin that was developed by my predecessor, we have a requirement to amend this plugin however whenever I open the plugin it tells me 'this plugin was created by another company and will be opened as read only. You must save changes as new version'.
I am aware I can copy and save as etc etc but it would be easier for me to amend and save the changes to this plugin.

This is OK. Once a plugin has been saved and released SalesLogix wants to make it read-only. If you later edit the plugin SalesLogix will give you the message you are seeing. This is just a FYI message. Open the plugin and make your changes then save the plugin and release it to the same scope of users it is currently released to. This will keep the prior copy of the plugin so you can revert back to it if needed.
